Toddler “Muhluri” Gets to Run and Explore Thanks to Jumping Kids
Tiny tot Muhluri Langa gets to run, play, and explore the world with joy and confidence thanks to Jumping Kids, a wonderful organisation that helps children with limb differences access prosthetic equipment required to lead full and active lives!
Polokwane, South Africa (07 January 2025) – Simple things like running outside or playing a game of ball are simple activities any kid should get to enjoy to their heart’s content.
Jumping Kids is in the business of giving kids the joy of childhood and freedom of movement back. Little Muhluri Leano Sbanesihle Langa is one of the organisation’s recent prosthetic recipients and couldn’t be more excited to explore the world around her.
Born with Fibular Hemimelia, a congenital condition that results in the absence of the fibula (the most common form of long bone deficiency in the limbs), the ability to learn how to walk and run posed great challenges. But thankfully, help was in close reach for the bubbly toddler.
She underwent a bilateral below-knee amputation and became a proud beneficiary of the Jumping Kids Prosthetic Fund, supported by The Star Foundation.
“Early intervention in cases like Muhluri’ is critical. It ensures that children living with lower limb amputation can grow, develop and play just like their able-bodied peers, embracing every moment of the precious early years of childhood,” Star Foundation explains.
Since her amputation and the fitment of her first prostheses, Muhluri has blossomed into an active, joyful young girl. Running around and playing with her friends is particularly fun for her, as it gives her a sense of freedom and excitement.
Rewriting Muhluri’s story from a potentially challenging one to one filled with the promise of a full life is just one of those heartwarming moments that will never go old in our books!
